{"id":334,"date":"2024-03-06T07:37:48","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T07:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/?p=334"},"modified":"2024-03-06T07:37:48","modified_gmt":"2024-03-06T07:37:48","slug":"broad-beans-sambar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/06\/broad-beans-sambar\/","title":{"rendered":"Broad Beans Sambar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/avarakkai-sambar-big-1700980155-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-335\" style=\"width:1271px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/avarakkai-sambar-big-1700980155-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/avarakkai-sambar-big-1700980155-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/avarakkai-sambar-big-1700980155-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lifestylerepository.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/avarakkai-sambar-big-1700980155.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup split pigeon peas (toor dal), rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cups broad beans, chopped into small pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tomatoes, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-3 green chilies, slit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon tamarind paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon mustard seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon cumin seeds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pinch of asafoetida (optional)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 sprig curry leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons sambar powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon turmeric powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 cups water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh coriander leaves for garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Cook Dal: Drain the soaked toor dal and cook it in a pot with 2 cups of water until it&#8217;s soft and mushy. Mash it well and set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cook Broad Beans: In another pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds. Once they start popping, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and optional asafoetida. Stir for a few seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add onions and green chilies. Saut\u00e9 until onions are translucent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add tomatoes and cook until they&#8217;re soft.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add chopped broad beans, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pour in 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil, then let it simmer until the broad beans are tender.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare Tamarind Paste: In a small bowl, mix tamarind paste with 1\/2 cup of warm water. Strain out the pulp and discard the solids. Add the tamarind water to the pot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add Sambar Powder: Stir in the sambar powder and mix well.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add Cooked Dal: Once the broad beans are cooked, add the mashed dal to the pot. Mix everything well and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust Consistency: If the sambar is too thick, add more water to get the desired consistency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Garnish: Turn off the heat and garnish the sambar with fresh coriander leaves.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Broad Beans Sambar is ready to be served!
