Set aside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cooking the Kootu:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Grind the Coconut Mixture:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In a blender, grind the grated coconut, green chilies, and cumin seeds to a smooth paste with a little water. Set aside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Cook the Banana Stem:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In a pan, add the chopped banana stem along with a pinch of turmeric powder and salt. Add enough water to cover the banana stem and cook until tender.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Combine and Cook:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Once the banana stem is cooked, add the cooked moong dal and the ground coconut mixture to the pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mix well and adjust the consistency by adding water if necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Check and adjust salt as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tempering:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Prepare the Tempering:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>In a small pan, heat the coconut oil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add urad dal and fry until it turns golden brown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add asafoetida, dry red chilies, and curry leaves.
