Spicy Bean Cruncher

“Crunchy, Spicy, and Simply Delicious: Dive into the irresistible flavor of our Cluster Beans Fry!”

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams cluster beans (gawar or gawarphali), trimmed and chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or mustard oil)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beans:
  • Wash the cluster beans thoroughly.
  • Trim the ends and cut them into small pieces (about 1-inch long).
  1. Cook the Beans:
  • In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
  • Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add the finely chopped green chilies.
  • Sauté for a minute, then add the chopped onions. Cook until the onions are translucent and golden brown.
  1. Add Spices:
  • Add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  1. Cook the Beans:
  • Add the chopped cluster beans to the pan. Stir to coat the beans with the spices.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Check for doneness. The beans should be tender but still have a slight crunch. If needed, add a couple of tablespoons of water to help the cooking process.
  1. Finish the Dish:
  • Once the beans are cooked and the spices are well-blended, sprinkle garam masala (if using) and mix well.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve hot with chapati, paratha, or as a side dish with rice. Lemon wedges on the side can add a fresh tangy flavor.

Enjoy your flavorful Cluster Beans Fry!
