Herb Garden Rice

“Aromatic herbs, wholesome grains, pure delight in every bite!”

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Olive oil or butter – 1–2 tsp
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion – 1 small, finely chopped (optional)
  • Fresh herbs – 2 tbsp each of your choice (parsley, cilantro, basil, thyme, or dill)
  • Salt – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
  • Black pepper – ¼ tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp (optional, for freshness)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until water runs clear. Drain well.
  2. Cook the rice:
    • In a pot, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
    • Add garlic (and onion if using) and sauté until fragrant.
    • Add the rice and toast for 1–2 minutes.
    • Pour in water, add salt, and bring to a boil.
    • Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed.
  3. Add herbs:
    • Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
    • Fluff the rice with a fork and gently mix in finely chopped fresh herbs.
    • Drizzle with lemon juice if desired and season with black pepper.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, you can add a small bay leaf while cooking.
  • Use a mix of fresh and dried herbs if fresh ones aren’t available.
  • Toasting the rice lightly before boiling gives a nutty aroma.
