Peppery Mushroom Delight

Ingredients:

  • 500g button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 green bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 green chilies, sliced (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
  • Clean and slice the mushrooms.
  • Thinly slice the onions, bell peppers, and green chilies.
  • Mince the garlic and ginger.
  1. Cooking:
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  • Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until they start to splutter.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Add the sliced onions and green chilies. Cook until the onions are translucent and slightly caramelized.
  • Add the sliced bell peppers and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  • Sprinkle the turmeric powder, red chili powder, freshly ground black pepper, and salt over the mushrooms. Mix well to ensure the spices coat the mushrooms evenly.
  • Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are tender and have released their moisture.
  • Add the garam masala and give it a final stir. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
